The mountain has got two trekking routes and organizations taking it and those include the Rwenzori mountaineering service (RMS), which is the central circuit, and the Rwenzori Trekking Services controlled by a muzungu which is the southern circuit.

Rwenzori mountaineering service has got more success chances compared to the kilembe trail as you can see.

In terms of distance coverage by hiking Rwenzori Trekking Services has 85km in total while Rwenzori mountaineering Services central circuit has 65 km in total (Southern circuit). This means hiking through the Rwenzori Mountain trekking service is too tiresome compared to the central circuit.

Rwenzori Trekking service southern circuit, you cannot submit margherita without ruppeeing on Rwenzori mountaineering service, reason being Rwenzori trekking services joins the central circuit at kitandara near gunswick point close to kitandara in order to make it to the summit, while the central circuit is independent to make it to margherita.

Central circuit is the only escape route from the mountain, in case of any emergency whether you are travelling with Rwenzori Trekking services or Rwenzori mountaineering services, you will need the central circuit.
